The Misadventures of Cheri

Mortifying my kids one swimsuit at a time

What a couple of days

on December 15, 2008

It’s so sad to see the underbelly of humanity. That’s what I’ve felt exposed to over the weekend. I don’t really know where to begin, but I will.

First, two police officers were killed and a third critically injured in a town a little less than an hour south of here. A bomb was placed in a bank and it went off. Thankfully they caught the fleabag. Oregon State Trooper William Hakim and Woodburn Police Officer Tom Tennant will be sorely missed and given a hero’s tribute over the coming days. Hopefully Woodburn Chief of Police Scott Russell will make a full recovery.

Second, the church I used to attend in Wasilla, Alaska was set on fire and has been ruled as “suspicious circumstances.” As most of you know, it’s the church Sarah Palin currently attends (she didn’t go there when we did). Gov. Palin has expressed sorrow and apologized if the fire was set as some sort of outlash towards her. She also stated that what is intended for evil, God intends for good. Which I wholeheartedly believe.

All I have to say about the incidents is this: If you’re mad and want to blow up or set something on fire, fine. Let your twisted little mind go there. But don’t risk human life. There were CHILDREN in the church when it was set on fire. Thankfully no one was hurt in the fire.

On a brighter note, Tyler is off of work this week!!! So that means we’re on Christmas break, too. Today I’m going to bake the makings for a gingerbread house. I’ve done this once before so we’ll see if I can do it again. It tastes and looks so much better than the ones you buy pre-made. Depending on how it goes, next year I might think the pre-made ones are the only way to go!!

Have a great Monday.
