Dirty Little Secrets

on April 11, 2010

I stole this idea from Mrs. Wright, Gone Wrong.  I stumbled on her blog while looking at other entries on Works For Me Wednesday.  What’s funny is that she happens to live in Wasilla, Alaska . . . . only the place I grew up and went to high school 🙂  So here are my Dirty Little Secrets for the week:

I’m leading Bible study tonight because the leader is out of town.  You’d think this fact would make me be all over my homework and get it done early.  Nope.

I haven’t vacuumed the living room in I don’t know how long.  The idiot beagle is just going to drag more stuff in and tear up more stuffed animals.  I figure if I just keep the stuffing picked up, it looks okay.

I was so sick and such a mental wreck with time of the month stuff last week I thought I was going to lose my mind.  It just gets worse as I get older and this time around it took me two full days to recover after the 5 or 6 days of hell.  It’s miserable and I’m starting to lose hope that “maybe next month won’t be so bad.”  If I tell anyone about it they just laugh and it’s so not a laughing matter.

That last paragraph made me cry.

I had to delete a Dirty Little Secret because I think it might enrage a few people.

I’m on Facebook a lot.  People’s poor grammar and spelling really get to me.  I find it hard to quell the inner grammar nazi and not post corrections.  Because how irritating would THAT be?

I just confirmed two people on Facebook as friends.  I have NO CLUE who they are.  Yet under “mutual friends” we have about 30 in common . . . . . all from high school.  The days of good ‘ol Wasilla High School in the 80’s (yes, the same one Sarah Palin went to and, no, I don’t want to talk about her) are getting foggier and foggier.

It drives me nuts when people complain about the rain here . . . . . and it used to drive me nuts when people complained about the snow when I lived in Alaska.  In both instances I want to say, “Are you even aware of where you’re living?”

I complain about my beagle a lot.  I think I do that in order to balance out how cute I think she is.  Some days I honestly think I’m going to go into a diabetic coma because she is. so. cute.  And the sweetness of her cuteness is hard to take.

I don’t watch the news.  Except on the rare occasion I’ll catch the local news to see what’s going on around here.  And while we’re at it, I don’t like ANY of the cable news networks.  I avoid them like the plague.  Unless there’s some sort of disaster that the news is covering live.  On those rare instances (if I’m even aware there’s a disaster happening) I’ll watch FoxNews.

Don’t ask me if I listen to Rush, Hannity or anyone else on the radio.  You won’t like my answer.

As far as talk radio, I listen to Dr. Laura occasionally and I love a local show called “The Mark & Dave Show.” Mark & Dave are (in my opinion) unbiased, they welcome both viewpoints of a story, 99.4% hate-free and hilarious.  I also catch bits of Dave Ramsey as I’m shuttling my son to and from karate.

I am a republican.  If Sarah Palin ends up on the November 2012 presidential ballot, I will cry hot tears of fury.

I am a firm believer that the bedroom you share with your husband should be a sanctuary.  Right now, our “sanctuary” looks more like a “storage unit.”  I think that’s my project for spring/summer.  Get the crap out and make it look nice.

I don’t make my kids get up early.  Ever.  Unless we have to be somewhere.  So that means most days we don’t even start school until 10:00 . . . or in my son’s case, 11:00.

The above confession means I don’t get up very early, either.  Unless I have to.  Or if one of the dogs wakes me up (which happened today).

Alrighty, my Bible study isn’t finishing itself.

I love the rain, you won’t ever hear complaints from me about the rain. The other day we had ALOT of rain, I got soaked just walking to the car. I could have grumbled and whined about it. But later in the day after another big shower I was driving down the freeway and in front of me were 3 huge rainbows, and on the surface of the freeway was another rainbow I was driving on. I know someday I will walk on streets of gold, but for one brief moment I got to drive on a rainbow. If it hadn’t rained it would not have been there to brighten up what had been a very stressful day.

I don’t know who Donna Bunker is either! I only friended her because a ton of other people did.

LOL! I love your secrets! And I do complain about the snow, but it’s the middle of freaking APRIL and we have 6 inches from today alone.

And I only talk about Sarah to deny knowing her, but to admit to following Bristol around at Target so I could see the baby before the People photo shoot came out.
